The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods (DON) announced on January 6, 2026, that it is now accepting applications for the Neighborhood Matching Fund (NMF), a long-standing initiative designed to transform grassroots ideas into community realities. Since 1988, this program has supported more than 5,000 community-driven projects, ranging from public art and park upgrades to cultural celebrations.
The NMF offers two distinct funding pathways to support neighborhoods of all sizes:
• The Community Partnership Fund (CPF): This fund provides awards of up to $50,000 for large-scale projects with lasting impacts, such as community organizing, the design of community facilities, and significant park improvements. The deadline for CPF applications is March 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m..
• The Small Sparks Fund (SSF): Geared toward smaller, "quick-turn" ideas, this fund provides up to $5,000 per project. It is ideal for block parties, neighborhood clean-ups, and small workshops. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until October 30, 2026, or until the funding is fully allocated.
Support for Applicants and Community Involvement To assist community groups in navigating the application process, the DON is hosting three free virtual workshops. These sessions will explain fund basics, what constitutes a strong application, and how the review process works. The workshops are scheduled for:
• Thursday, January 15: 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
• Saturday, January 24: 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, February 11: 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
In addition to project applications, the city is seeking Community Partnership Fund Reviewers. Local residents can apply to help select which projects receive funding, bringing their local knowledge and commitment to equity to the decision-making table. The deadline to apply as a reviewer is February 10, 2026.
