The City of Seattle is calling on neighbors in West Seattle to help chart the course for their communities as the city prepares for the arrival of new light rail stations.
The Office of Planning and Community Development (OPCD) and the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) have launched the West Seattle/Delridge Station Area Planning Survey, a key step in a community-driven process to define the future of these neighborhoods. Residents have until March 27 to share their priorities and ideas.
A 20-Year Vision
The survey aims to establish a shared vision for areas that will be impacted by light rail expansion over the next two decades. While Sound Transit handles the design and construction of the stations themselves, this city-led initiative focuses specifically on the surrounding neighborhoods.
Feedback gathered will serve as a foundation for future policies, investments, and projects that will shape growth, livability, and mobility in the area.
Key Planning Priorities
The 15-minute survey asks participants to weigh in on several critical aspects of neighborhood development, including:
- Housing and support for local businesses.
- Transportation and the creation of safe streets.
- Job access and identifying new places for the community to gather.
How to Participate
The survey is available online in both English and Spanish to ensure broad community representation. The planning area includes the West Seattle Junction and Delridge station areas, as well as extended study areas along RapidRide corridors.
Neighbors interested in shaping the next 20 years of their community are encouraged to complete the survey at the official link before the March 27 deadline.
