Seattle police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred early Thursday morning in the High Point neighborhood, leaving a 17-year-old boy injured.
The incident began around 12:48 a.m. when dispatchers received several reports of rapid gunfire near the intersection of Sylvan Way Southwest and Southwest Morgan Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his hip. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center and is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Prior to finding the victim, authorities located a crashed and disabled vehicle near Sylvan Way Southwest and Delridge Way Southwest. Witnesses reported seeing multiple suspects fleeing from the car and running through a nearby Home Depot parking lot. While the K-9 Unit assisted in a search of the cordoned-off area, officers were unable to locate the suspects. The vehicle has since been impounded for processing.
The gunfire caused property damage to the surrounding area, striking two buildings and at least three vehicles, though no other injuries have been reported. Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are now leading the investigation after officers recovered evidence from multiple nearby scenes.
