The High Tekerz, a youth robotics team based near Burien and White Center, capped off a busy June with a high‑energy appearance at Gather for Goals on June 26 — and they’re not slowing down. Next up: rolling their student‑built robot down California Avenue as part of the West Seattle Grand Parade on July 18.
A Community Robotics Team With Momentum
The High Tekerz operate out of the North Highline/White Center area, drawing students from Burien, White Center, and South Seattle. Their focus is hands‑on STEM learning — engineering, coding, teamwork, and competitive robotics — and they’ve become a growing presence at community events.
At Gather for Goals, the White Center street festival centered on youth empowerment and local creativity, the Tekerz set up a demonstration booth where kids could talk with team members about how robotics competitions work. Their station drew people throughout the afternoon, with many hearing about the program for the first time.
Organizers said the Tekerz embodied the event’s mission: showing young people that technical skills and creativity can open doors.
What They Showcased at Gather for Goals
People stopped to ask about enrollment, summer programs, and how robotics competitions work.
Next Stop: West Seattle Grand Parade, July 19
The High Tekerz will take their momentum into one of the region’s biggest summer traditions: the West Seattle Grand Parade, rolling at 11 a.m. on July 18 along California Avenue SW.

Their entry will feature:
-
A mobile robotics showcase with multiple student-built bots
-
Live demonstrations along the route
-
Team members walking and driving robots to interact with the crowd
For many parade‑goers, it will be the first time seeing competitive robotics up close — and the Tekerz hope it inspires more local kids to join.
About Their Home Base
The team operates out of Tekerz Robotics, an education center at 11427 3rd Ave S, just north of Burien.
