The fair transforms the beach into a vibrant outdoor gallery featuring a wide range of painters, illustrators, ceramicists, and jewelers. While the fair is now a celebrated beach tradition, its longevity is rooted in a deep community history. Originally established in 1997 under the guidance of the Alki Community Center, the event transitioned into a volunteer-led nonprofit organization in 2011 after city budget cuts. Today, the fair thrives through the leadership of an all-volunteer Board of Directors and the support of local sponsors like Canna West Seattle Culture Shop, Aegis Living, and Smith Brothers Farms.
