WestSide Baby celebrates 25 years with return of "Stuff the Bus" community campaign

As summer continues, WestSide Baby has announced the return of its signature community campaign, Stuff the Bus, aimed at providing essential items for local children. Now in its 25th year of service, the organization is calling on the community to help ensure every child in Western Washington has the basics they need to grow and thrive.

The campaign, which runs through August 31, 2026, addresses a critical gap in support. When school is out, families often lose access to vital resources like free meals and school-based connections, yet the need for basics remains. As WestSide Baby notes, "Diaper need doesn't take a summer break".

How to Participate

Community members have several ways to support the campaign:

  • Host a Drive: Neighbors, families, and co-workers are encouraged to collect diapers, wipes, and back-to-school items like backpacks, jackets, and clothing.
  • Donate Dollars: Monetary donations allow the organization to leverage its partnership with the National Diaper Bank Network to purchase diapers in bulk at a reduced cost.
  • Send Items Directly: Supporters can use the Amazon Wishlist to ship diapers and wipes directly to the WestSide Baby warehouse in White Center.

In-Person "Stuff the Bus" Events

Local residents can also drop off donations in person at several QFC collection sites throughout the region:

  • West Seattle QFC (4550 42nd AVE SW): Thursday, July 30, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Northgate QFC (11100 Roosevelt Way NE): Thursday, August 13, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Westwood Village QFC (2500 Barton AVE SW): Saturday, August 29, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Community Partners

The 2026 campaign is supported by various sponsors, including Arcora (The Foundation of Delta Dental of Washington) and QFC. In-kind partners for the event include Les Schwab Tires – West Seattle, Seattle Rubbish Removal, Signs of Seattle, South Seattle Community College, and the Wear a Big Smile Foundation.
