Community members across West Seattle are gearing up for the annual Show Up, Seattle! Day of Service on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The citywide initiative, organized by the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods alongside Seattle Public Utilities, Seattle Parks & Recreation, and local community organizations, calls on residents to spend a morning volunteering to beautify public spaces.

Originally established in May 2022 under Mayor Bruce Harrell as the "One Seattle Day of Service," the event aims to foster civic pride and neighborhood connection. West Seattle serves as one of the primary district hubs for the campaign, bringing together residents, families, local business owners, faith groups, and school organizations.

During the primary volunteer shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, work in West Seattle will target key neighborhood needs, including commercial corridor beautification, alley sweeping, street cleaning, and litter pickup. Volunteers will also assist with graffiti removal, public school maintenance, and community garden care, with select projects extending until 1:00 PM.

While the event handbook designates West Seattle as a major district hub, specific project tasks across the Junction corridor are directed by local site leads on the morning of the event.

To support the effort, the city supplies all necessary tools, gloves, instructions, and trash disposal services. Organizers request pre-registration so host organizations can account for supplies, tool counts, and morning refreshments.
