Knives and feces pulled during eviction
On Jan. 28 officers were called to the scene of an eviction gone wrong on the 4500 block of 38 Ave. S.W. at 2:49 p.m. The suspect (and evictee) was in the lobby of the building threatening staff members and residents with a knife.
The responding officer to this incident had actually dealt with the angry tenant hours earlier when he first confronted the management of the building after receiving his eviction notice. In a show of his congenial manner the suspect had attempted to return the eviction notice after defecating all over it. When management refused to accept his notice the suspect began yelling at any resident who passed through the lobby. All witnesses and victims believed he was very drunk.
By the time the officer had arrived the suspect had returned to his unit and locked himself in. The officer warned him through his door that any further disturbances would result in an arrest.
When the officer arrived for this disturbance a number of witnesses and victims were waiting in the lobby with one victim having taken the knife from the suspect. The suspect came down from his unit to meet the officer and explained that he had not considered his knife brandishing to be threatening. He also admitted to having had at least six beers that day.
The suspect was arrested without incident and booked into the King County Jail for unlawful use of a weapon. His knife was also taken into evidence. The eviction letter was left at the scene.
Shoplifters assault clerk at convenient store
At 2:10 a.m. on Jan. 28 police were called to a convenience store on the 9200 block of 35 Ave. S.W. after a clerk was assaulted during a shoplifting incident.
As the victim explained to police he had been working alone in the store when a group of four (possibly five) white males came in and began aimlessly walking around. One of the men was standing close to a rack with wine and as he walked away the clerk noticed a bottle was missing. When the clerk confronted the suspect about the wine the suspect and his friends bolted out of the front door.
One suspect remained behind and attempted to stall the victim from chasing the suspects by asking about Swisher Sweet cigar prices. The victim informed this suspect that since he had been with the group he wasn’t allowed to leave the store and would need to speak with the police. The victim then blocked the front door with his body and started dialing 911.
At that point the suspect pushed the victim in his chest and threw a punch. The victim dodged this blow and began punching back at the suspect, striking him several times in the face. The suspect threw the victim away from himself and kicked him in the leg. This left an opening for the suspect to runaway through the back of the store where a green Honda with the other suspects was waiting.
The car pulled away before the victim could get the plate number. The victim was treated for wounds to his hands from the punches he threw by the Fire Department. The suspects remain at large.
