SALMON CREEK--The if-necessary game was not necessary.
West Seattle took care of Kirkland American in one game Saturday morning, 6-4, to capture the state age 9-11 Little League baseball all-star tournament title.
The win gave the Westsiders an undefeated sweep through the tournament after coming in as the District 7 champions.
Had they lost, Kirkland American would have also needed to win a second game to wrest away the championship.
West Seattle's state championship team is managed by Mike Fahy, who is assisted by coaches Sean Eley and Brian Sherick.
Players are Tristan Buehring, Parker Eley, Cady Fahy, Robbie Foisy, Wyatt Glover, Miles Gosztola, Matthew Hazlegrove, Matthew Henning-Dierickx, Joseph Sherick, Will Skibitzke, Blake Taft, Bobby Trigg and Simon Vance.
The West Seattle league president is Jason Earls.
