A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the two-million-dollar jewelry store robbery that occurred at Menashe & Sons Jewelry in West Seattle on August 14. The suspect, who police identified as a previously convicted felon, is currently being held on $250,000 bail at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, WA.
The individual was initially apprehended by the Renton Police Department (RPD) on October 16. The RPD arrested the man for involvement in multiple smash and grab robberies and additional weapons charges. As a convicted felon, the suspect is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Following the Renton arrest, Seattle Police Department (SPD) detectives and SPD’s lead robbery detective referred robbery charges to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPO) on October 18. These charges relate to the suspect’s alleged involvement in the brazen smash & grab.
During the suspect's apprehension, police successfully recovered ammunition, narcotics, and other evidence, including two firearms.
However, the major items stolen during the August 14 heist, which included emerald necklaces, gold bracelets, Rolex watches, and platinum diamonds, have not yet been recovered. Furthermore, authorities indicate that three suspects related to the incident remain outstanding.
The case remains an open and active investigation assigned to the SPD’s Robbery Unit.
The Menashe family said they would make a statement likely tomorrow pending more information.
