Russia wins soccer tourney

Everything came to a close quickly in the final in the Open Division of the All Nations Cup played Saturday, July 29 at the Starfire complex in Tukwila.

With Brazillian singer Jovino Neto Santos singing and first place awards given out, the niceties were nice, fancy green striped uniform 'Champions 2006' shirts awarded from mazahmba.com- being given to the winner after 30-something teams competed.

Teams from Russia, Brazil, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Tibet, Japan, China, Great Britain, and too many more names to name here wanted to win it and played hard professional level socce

Seattle summer swimming season comes to a close

Chasing after Olympic View Swim Club swimmer Chase Onstot was what everyone had to do in the 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke, to no avail, and Matt Jude, hey, what can one say, the guy's singingly poetic in the water, winning three individual events, as a lot of stroking-good action came to and through the swimming lanes of the annual All City Seattle Summer Swim League championships held at the OV pool Aug.

Two SeaTac men arrested

in federal drug dragnet

The SeaTac and Tukwila Police Departments participated in an international drug raid last week.

One location in SeaTac was raided and two SeaTac men were arrested as a result.

The investigation began 18 months ago in New York City. Federal Drug Enforcement Agents were able to link suspects to Seattle after five months of investigation.

Eighteen people were arrested and charged with conspiracy to import and distribute khat.

Gift is all wet

When Jan and Steve Halbakken got married, instead the traditional bridal registry, the couple asked friends and family for monetary donations to fill the wading pool at Soundview Park with water.

Over $4,000 was raised and the money helped keep the pool open for use on summer weekends, when the city normally leaves it empty.

The Halbakkens turned the money over to the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation with the agreement that it be used for weekend staffing and the 4,000 daily gallons of water needed to fill it both days.

"Don't let them take Granny's money!" a signature gatherer was braying outside of a Safeway store last June. There was a crowd on hand to see the classic cars at the Greenwood auto show and to their credit, most of the gear heads didn't notice the bold-faced lies coming from the I-920 petition table. The petition effort itself seemed like a pretty low rent affair, with its picnic table and solitary barker, given the initiative's backers are a pair of millionaires, Martin Selig and John Nordstrom.
