A letter for your thoughts

We are looking, every day in every way, for more letters and Op-Ed pieces from our Ballard readers.

Or do you have nothing to say? Is everything perfect? Naaa! Where are the people with the complaints, the concerns, even the nitpicks?

Letters are the first thing many people read in a newspaper and in the newspaper's website. We print all of them, without editing or "correcting" opinion and "facts." It is just you and your brain between you and the readers of this newspaper.

Imagine what would happen if the Brand X papers downtown did this. They can't. We can.

Viaduct study ignores business

Chavez expects good season

Four years ago Mitchell Chavez was just a freshman with the responsibility of holding down the number one singles position for the Ballard Beavers boy's tennis team.

Now that he is a senior, Chavez has three seasons of experience playing against other top KingCo players and he is expecting a good senior season.

"I've been improving and working out, practicing with Brad (Head Coach and tennis professional Brad Hamilton)," said Chavez.

The team will rely on Chavez this year as it has in past years.

Beavers golf is showing improvement over 2006

In boy's golf, the Ballard Beavers are closing the gap with eastside schools and their city rivals this season while fielding a relatively young team.

"We're picking it up quite a bit and are progressing quite a bit from last year," said Head Coach Ryan Nelson.

A year ago the team lost to many teams by large scores, as in the case of their Redmond match to open the 2006 season. Redmond won 183-255.

Judging by their subsequent scores starting the Garfield Bulldogs, Ballard showed improvement.
