West Seattle Chamber takes position on ST3

information from West Seattle Chamber of Commerce

The West Seattle Chamber of Commerce (WSCC) is committed to promoting sustainable economic growth of a diverse, viable business community. One of the biggest challenges to achieving this goal is our present transportation infrastructure. To support the future viability of the business community on the West Seattle peninsula, the WSCC has 3 main objectives by which any light rail proposal should be assessed:

  1. Does the solution improve the quality of life for residents ( i.e. customers and business owners) who live and work in and around the proposed alignments and station locations?

  2. Does the solution improve the movement of people and commerce?

West Seattle .5K will be a "beery run around the Junction" June 15

The West Seattle Junction is promoting an event this summer that combines the unlikely pairing of  beer and exercise they are calling The West Seattle .5k which they describe as "a beery run around the West Seattle Junction".

Actually they say "The .5k is guaranteed to provide almost zero exercise but you'll instead taste some of the best beers from the Pacific Northwest. At each hydration station located in some of your favorite West Seattle bars, enjoy robust tastings from 10 different beers along with snacks and trivia questions."

The event is also a fundraiser for the Junction, still facing a large burden of offsetting the high cost of maintaining free parking in the Junction. As such you can in fact donate (even without drinking any beer) here.
