Phil Sudore is the owner of The Spot West Seattle, new at 2950 Avalon Way Southwest.

It has always been a dream of mine to establish strong  roots and be able to leave a legacy of service in the neighbor I live and love. What better way than to open a community hang with food, full bar and music. "The Spot West Seattle".

In times of solidarity, joyful or mournful, we often look up to see our emotions reflected in the Space Needle in larger-than-life beacons of city pride, seasonal festivities or national reverence. In late March, Major Jenny Durkan raised our latest flag – #WeGotThisSeattle –  as a hopeful rallying cry to stand strong and healthy in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting stay-at-home order.

Thanks to dedicated staff and growing partnerships, the number of meals served to Seattle Public Schools students and families continues to trend upward during the Covid-19 pandemic school building closure.

Since the first Monday after all SPS school buildings were closed on Thursday, March 12, 2020, the district’s Nutrition Services Department has provided breakfast and lunch five days a week at 26 school-based meal distribution sites.

The number of students has now increased to an approximate average of 6,500 students served daily, which works out to an approximate average of 13,000 meals served daily.

As the numbers have increased, so has the contribution from community partners.
