UPDATE: COVID-19 comes back to Providence Mt. St Vincent; Death total rises to four

15 residents and 11 caregivers have tested positive; Providence releases statement

Providence Mt. St. Vincent released a statement late on Tuesday on the current status:

"The current COVID-19 outbreak at Providence Mount St. Vincent has our full attention and we’re taking it very seriously. The health and safety of our residents is always our number one priority and we are committed to doing everything we can to keep them safe. As of today, 15 of our residents are currently positive and 11 of our caregivers have tested positive for COVID-19. We are heartbroken that 4 of our beloved residents have died from the disease and we extend our deepest sympathies to their loved ones in their time of great loss.

Very early on in the pandemic around March, we had an outbreak of COVD-19 at The Mount.

Following the election-season fist-pumper  “Dump Trump” , today Brent Amaker and the Rodeo share the brand new video for the title track from their new EP. "Ugly World" is something of an ode to 2020, with the Rodeo keeping one eye on turning the page to a new year, new horizons, and yes, getting the Rodeo back to a town near you.

Seattle City Council votes to cut Seattle Police Budget, transfer 911 and parking enforcement out

The Seattle City Council passed its final vote on the 2021 City of Seattle Budget on Monday Nov. 23 choosing among other budget measures to make cutbacks to the Seattle Police. The total is nearly an $80 million dollar reduction including provisos and cuts according to Councilmember Lisa Herbold.

King County District Court suspends commencement of jury trials through January 11, 2021, due to COVID-19

Temporary suspension affects largest court of limited jurisdiction in Washington state

To help keep the public, jurors and court employees safe during a time of rapidly increasing novel coronavirus infections in Washington state, King County District Court is temporarily suspending commencement of new jury trials through January 11, 2021. The court will continue to assess the suspension period on a bi-weekly basis, which could result in an earlier re-start of jury trials or extension of the suspension, as conditions warrant.

Please donate a turkey to the West Seattle Food bank

You can help your neighbors enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. Please donate turkeys as soon as possible.

The West Seattle Food Bank is in need of turkeys to give out to our neighbors this week. As we approach Thanksgiving, there has been record numbers of neighbors coming to the West Seattle Food Bank for holiday groceries. 

While they bought several hundred more turkeys than usual,  they are at risk of running out.  They’ve served over 700 families thus far and are still distributing food another 3 days. They need your help to ensure all our neighbors can enjoy a delicious meal with their family.

Partnership to pilot No-Cost COVID-19 testing kiosks announced

In the coming weeks, the City of Seattle could administer 9,000+ tests daily 

Information from the City of Seattle 

As COVID-19 cases surge across the region and state, Seattle Mayor Jenny A. Durkan signed a new Executive Order and announced a new pilot and partnership with Curative to create additional testing capacity. Curative, which currently conducts testing in cities like Los Angeles and states including Delaware, will initially provide two walk-up testing kiosks in North Seattle and Central Seattle with more in mid-December.
