On Sunday, May 3, the rhythmic sound of the Puget Sound waves will provide the soundtrack for a community-driven journey as Feet First hosts a 3.8-mile waterfront walk through West Seattle. Starting at 10 a.m. near the swings at Lincoln Park parking lot #2, participants will join volunteer Liz Steen for a trek that showcases the natural beauty of the coastline while highlighting the vital work of Washington State’s primary pedestrian-advocacy nonprofit.

Family members are asking for the public’s help locating Anna Le, a 21‑year‑old woman who was last seen Sunday, April 5, 2026, in the Rainier Valley area of Seattle.

Anna is described as 5'6" and 160 lbs. She was last seen wearing a black T‑shirt, blue jeans, and white/blue denim Nike shoes. Family members say she may be driving a 2010 silver Toyota Highlander, license plate ACE8577.

Video: Seattle Police Officer Awarded the Medal of Courage

The Seattle Police Department awarded Officer Albert Khandzhayan with the Medal of Courage following his actions during a domestic violence robbery and kidnapping last year. This is the Department’s third highest award, given to employees who display courage and bravery in the line of duty.

On May 3, 2025, patrol officers in West Seattle responded to reports of the woman’s ex-boyfriend breaking out her window, dragging her out of her car, and stealing it with her three children inside. The victim had an active restraining order against the suspect at the time.

Burien Actors Theatre’s (BAT’s) Rebellious Women uses sharp humor, raw emotion and moments of intimacy to explore how far women will go for what they believe. The show performs April 10 through May 3.

When contented housewife Edith accidentally wanders into a suffragette meeting, she has no plans for revolution. But the women there will change her life forever. The harsh treatment of the protesters draws Edith toward the movement’s radical center. Where does she draw the line in the fight for equality? An unsentimental and sharp-witted homage to the suffragettes. “Deeds, not words.” 

Rebellious Women contains some adult content.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m.. Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. The show run time of approximately 90 minutes.

Fire near Beach Drive draws large response

A fire in a five bedroom home at 4400 Beach Drive SW  drew 24 units on Wednesday evening just after 5pm. The home, apparently undergoing a remodel, was billowing white smoke as firefighters got on the scene.

Scanner calls noted that the fire appeared to be in a wall and moving up to the attic. No one was hurt.

No announcement of the amount of damage was immediately available.

Worthy of note is that this home was once the home of West Seattle's Vicki Schmitz Block.

Major overhaul for West Seattle Link Extension: Why wouldn't Sound Transit need to file an amended or new EIS?

Following significant modifications to the West Seattle Link Extension (WSLE) plan—including the elimination of the Avalon Station and a massive shift from elevated tracks to a 4,400-foot tunnel—questions have arisen regarding whether Sound Transit must revisit its environmental review process. Despite these high-profile changes, agency officials and federal regulations indicate that the project will proceed under its existing approvals. This is all pending the approval of the changes when the Sound Transit Executive Committee meets in May.

City crews clear Rotary Viewpoint Park encampment; What's next and what works

On Wednesday morning, April 15, city crews conducted a sweep of an encampment at Rotary Viewpoint Park on 35th SW, removing approximately 16 tents. The operation is part of a continuing pattern of removals in the West Seattle corridor, including recent actions at Golden Gardens, Magnuson Park, and other Seattle parks. The park had become the scene of open drug use, a violent assault and one overdose death in recent weeks.

Sporting contests worth keeping an eye on

The Seattle Mariners return to T-Mobile Park for a significant stretch of home games beginning Friday, April 17, featuring a weekend series against the Texas Rangers followed by a three-game set against the Oakland Athletics. Professional sports fans can also look forward to the Seattle Sounders hosting St. Louis at Lumen Field on Saturday, April 18, and the Seattle Kraken taking on Colorado on the road on April 16. Other professional action includes the Seattle Torrent hosting Vancouver and the Seattle Seawolves traveling to face the California Legion.

Council moves to mandate safety plans as West Seattle prepares for Glassyard Commons opening

As the city nears the June 1, 2026, opening of Glassyard Commons, a massive new shelter project on West Marginal Way SW, local legislators are pushing for new laws to address mounting community anxiety regarding public safety and neighborhood impact.

Legislative Safeguards Proposed

In response to concerns from West Seattle and South Park residents, Councilmember Rob Saka has introduced critical amendments to Council Bill 121185. These legislative changes are designed to ensure that the introduction of large-scale homeless services does not compromise the surrounding area.
