Car burglar makes away with nothing
May 24, 9:18 a.m., 1220 block of 11th Ave NW -- Police responded to a call of a burglary in the Broadview neighborhood. Unknown suspects entered the unsecured garage, rifled through the 2001 Honda Accord, but appeared to take nothing. Suspects took out the glove box and leave it in the front passenger seat.
Officers found no latent prints and no evidence left on the scene. No items were in the car.
Burglar has eyes for pressure washer
May 24, 4:28 p.m., 8500 14th Ave NW -- An unknown suspect had is eyes set on stealing a pressure washer on the night of May 23. He entered the victim's backyard, opened up the unlocked storage shed, moved a push mower and gas barbque out of the way and stole the pressure washer.
The victim was not home at the time of the incident. He asked to file a police report and was given a case number for the incident.
A case of stolen furniture
May, 24, 4:28, 9700 block of Phinney Ave N -- A victim reported to police that much of her prop furniture that she used for interior displays had been stolen from an unoccupied residence. No one had been given permission to move the furniture.
The victim said she found all the doors left wide open. Officers noted that there was no apparent damage or forced entry. As reported by victims, much of the furniture was missing.
Officers found whitish dust on the hardwood floors in the house. Fingerprints were taken from the underside of a stand and submitted to the Evidence Section. An area check came up negative.
A photographer gets camera equipment ransacked
May 24, 9:46 p.m., 6500 Block of Cleopatra Pl NW -- A residence was burglarized some point during the day. At the victim's request, officers checked and cleared the inside of the house. They found no signs of forced entry, but found an exterior door that leads to the basement unlocked.
The victim said he left his residence at 7:45 a.m. and returned home at 9:30 p.m. He said he locked all of the doors, including the basement door, before leaving.
When he returned, he found that someone had rummaged through his office and bedroom and that his back door had been unlocked.
Apparently, the burglar had an interest in photography, as the victim gave a long list of camera-related equipment that had gone missing: two Nikon cameras, two Nikon camera lenses, one Nikon flash, one Go-Pro camera, two Pocket Wizard camera triggers, a Pelican case and a Panasonic digital video camera valued at $2,000. A $500 brown titanium Oakley watch was also missing.
The officer was unable to obtain a usable print and left the victim with followup forms and a business card.
Security guard threatened by liquor thief
May 25, 5:45 p.m., 14 NW Market St -- A uniformed security guard observed a suspect in the liquor aisle conceal a 1.75 liter bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey inside his jacket. The suspect continued to walk past manned cash registers and then exit out the store and into the parking lot without paying.
When the security guard confronted the suspect, telling him he needed to stop, the suspect partially pulled out a fixed blade and threatened him with it. the suspect told the security guard, "I steal all the time everywhere," and then shoved the knife back into his coat pocket.
The security guard, concerned for his safety, followed the suspect from a distance. the suspect walked down into the parking garage and took off running.
The security guard called police and an officer viewed the security tape. The suspect was a black male, about 30 years old, 5'7", 160 pounds, wearing a ballcap tuned backwards with sunglasses on the hat, a black Nike jacket with a swoosh in the upper left corner, a black shirt underneath and blue jeans. He appeared clean shaven.
Area checks turned up negative. The officer gave a business card and departed.
