Creeper threatens to slash diner’s throat, shushes 911 caller
Police are looking for a man who threatened diners with a knife at a store located on the 5700 block of 24th Avenue N.W on March 10. Officers were dispatched to the scene and spoke with the two victims. One victim told officers that he was sitting in the dining area of the store when a man approached him wielding a six-inch knife. The suspect held the knife horizontally one foot from the victim’s face and shouted, “I'll slash your throat!" A second victim said she saw the suspect come in and say “I'm going to stab someone in the throat," just before he walked up to the first victim. She told police that when she picked up her phone to call 911 the suspect yelled for her to put the phone away. She did. Then he walked outside. As soon as he was gone she called 911. As she did, the man peered at her through the store window and put one finger to his lips and made the "shhh” expression and lip-spoke “be quiet." Then he fled northbound on 24th Avenue N.W. The first victim said he feared for his life. He also said he recognized the man from a local organization that feeds the needy. Police asked the management of the store for the security footage of the incident. They were unable to locate the suspect.
Man urinates outside hospital, throws rock at security officers
Police arrested a man who attempted to assault Swedish Hospital security officers on March 9. The suspect had just been released from the hospital and was walking with his girlfriend through the emergency room area. He stopped to urinate. Security Officers asked the man to stop urinating and to move along. The suspect threw a rock at the officers. They ducked. One said they heard the rock “whiz” above his head. They apprehended the suspect and cuffed him. When police arrived, the suspect was on the ground. His girlfriend was screaming for officers to let her boyfriend go. Police and security officers exchanged cuffs, and the police took the suspect into custody. There was no security footage of the incident.
Man assaults friend after drinking booze, ‘taking pills’
Police responded to an assault reported at the 8500 block of Mary Avenue N.W. on March 10. Seattle Fire Department had already treated the victim when officers arrived. The victim had a large laceration on the side of his forehead. He was waiting to be transported to a nearby hospital. He told police that he was having drinks with his friend at his friend’s apartment. His friend was “taking pills.” The victim said that all of a sudden the suspect struck him in the head, which knocked him unconscious. When he came to, he said his friend was standing over him about to “do it again.” Then he said he left the apartment because he didn’t want to get arrested. He said he would have been arrested because “that’s how it works.” The victim described his friend only as being age 35. He said they were not in a “relationship.” He gave police the address. Police went to the suspect’s home and rang the bell. There was no answer. They had no phone number to call. No arrests were made.
