Shoplifter admits to having stolen car as well
Police were dispatched to N.W. 45th Street to investigate a theft at 10:40 a.m. on Wed., Jan. 11. The suspect was in custody. The complainant, a lost prevention employee, saw a woman take four jackets, a coin purse and a package of diapers, worth about $220 in total. He stopped her when she tried to leave the store without paying. She told him that she had driven to the store in a stolen vehicle and threatened to spit on the man. The suspect was placed under arrest for auto theft and having a warrant. The woman told police that she wanted to go to the hospital, because she thought she had MRSA. She declined treatment by the Fire Department and was sent to the hospital. The stolen vehicle was left at the scene to be picked up by the owner.
Couple assaulted while walking in the park
A man called to report an assault at 3 p.m. on Tues., Jan. 10. He explained that he was walking in the park located on Seaview Place N.W. with his wife, when he was struck in the back of the head with a large brick. He turned around and saw the suspect with an older man. The victim asked for their names, but the two men refused. The victim started yelling at them, and they drove away. The victim took a photo of their license plate and gave it to police. Officers called Seattle Fire Department to check on the victim, but before they arrived, he went into a seizure due to the stress and pain of the injury. The wife drove her husband to the hospital.
Commercial burglary
A commercial building, located on N.W. 56th Street, was burglarized sometime between 9 p.m. on Mon., Jan. 9 and 6 a.m. on Tues., Jan. 10. The suspect entered using a tool on a lever type door handle, then took a generator, electric drill set and battery charger. The suspect also cut through an adjoining wall with a saw.
Burglary on Ballard Way N.W.
Officers were dispatched at 11:20 a.m. on Mon., Jan. 9 to the 1100 block of N.W. Ballard Way for a report of a burglary. The store employees said an order of books worth $8,000 was missing. Officers tried to search for fingerprints but could not find any.
Aggressive driver on 22nd Avenue N.W.
Police were dispatched to the 5400 block of 22nd Avenue N.W. around 2:20 a.m. on Sun., Jan. 8 after receiving a report of a hit and run. The victim said he was walking when a few occupants in a vehicle started yelling at him. The man shouted back at them, and then the driver tried to hit him with the SUV. The victim said the driver continued to try to strike him with the car four or five times. He was able to avoid the car by jumping on the hood. He had a few scratches on the palm of his hands but declined medical attention. Police called a cab for the victim so he would be able to make it home safely.
