The Ballard Boys & Girls Club “Field of Our Dreams” fundraising event on Oct. 25 raised over $116,000 to support their baseball field renovation and scholarship fund.
“We are thrilled from the support we received from our sponsors, parents, and community,” says Shelley Puariea, Club Director. “We are especially grateful for the $25,000 contribution from our Presenting Sponsor, The Sports Medicine Clinic, and $10,000 from our Field Sponsor, The Mariners Care Foundation. Their funding and attendance helped us hit a grand slam for kids.”
Other sponsors included John and Shawn Goodman, Ballard Natural Gas Service, Inc., Carter Subaru, Jacobson Terminals, Inc., and Peoples Bank.
The Sports Medicine Clinic is celebrating 50 years of service in Ballard and is honored to generously give back to the community.
“Being able to give back to our local community in such a meaningful way is very rewarding to our Clinic,” says Dr. Mitchel Storey, President of The Sports Medicine Clinic. “Partnering with the Seattle Mariners has allowed us to complete an important and significant project for the Ballard Boys & Girls Club.”
The ninth annual event included silent and live auctions with Jeff Stokes as our auctioneer and Master of Ceremonies as well as a barbecue salmon dinner donated by the Masonic Lodge #72. Over 300 guests were in attendance, including Ballard residents and longtime Club supporters John and Shawn Goodman, as well as Seattle Mariners Hall of Famer Jay Buhner. Others in attendance included former Ballard Club member Norris Frederick, who told his touching story of how the Ballard Boys & Girls Club positively impacted his life and enabled him to become a USA Olympic Track and Field Team member.
Another highlight of the evening was when John and Shawn Goodman matched every $500 contribution and doubled every $100 contribution to help raise over $32,000 during the “Sponsor-a-Kid” portion of the live auction.
