Eleanore Sjodin WILCOX

Eleanore Sjodin Wilcox was born in 1913, and died on Aug. 16, 2005, in Ballard.

Eleanore was a long-time resident of Burien. She was married to Oro Wilcox for 42 years when he died unexpectedly.

Eleanore was a woman of many talents, including being a published poet, a life-time member of the Orthopedic Guild and a generous benefactor to many charities.

Eleanore is survived by her loving sons, Wayne Wilcox and Peter Wilcox; grandchildren Franklin Wilcox and Melinda (Wilcox) Morgan; and great-grandchild Franklin Morgan.

Paul R. Miller III

Paul died in San Diego on 25, July 2005 where he has lived for the past 3 years. He was 48. Paul was born in Seattle, WA. Lived in West Seattle and worked at Todd and Bremerton shipyards as a painter for many years, prior to his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army from 1973-1976.

He is survived by his father Paul R. Miller Jr. Anza, California; Sons: Christopher R. Miller and Travis J. Miler, Seattle, Washington; Grandsons: Alex Miller and Jason Miller, Seattle, WA; Brothers: Michael L. Miller, Fort St. Lucie, Florida and Douglas F.

Shirley June Balcom

Cheerful to the end, Shirley passed away August 5, 2005 from High Grade Lymphoma. She was born in Auburn, Washington on June 5, 1921 to Arthur and Blanche Rasmussen. A direct descendant of Jacob Maple, the Original King County Settler of June 22, 1851, was also a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers. She lived in Seattle the majority of her life and loved the typical rainy northwest weather. Her pioneering strength and spirit helped her through life's difficulties, as well as giving her the lust for life, laughter and song. Her creativity shone through in everything she pursued.

Elmer J. RUNGE

Elmer went home to be with his Lord and with his wife on Aug. 3, 2005. He was married 54 years to Mildred (Millie) who preceded him in death in 2001.

Elmer was born in Cairo, Nebraska. Before becoming a resident of the Burien area over 50 years ago, he served his country in North Africa and Italy from 1942 to 1945 while in the Army Air Corps. After moving to Burien, he became well known and respected as a furniture upholsterer.

Estalene Beatrice (Brace) RINNERT

Estalene Beatrice (Brace) Rinnert passed away peacefully, on July 7, 2005, in Gig Harbor. She was age 87.

She was born January 12, 1918, to William E. and Margaret (Bowmaker) Brace in Elbert, Colorado. She married Myrven Bridges Rinnert of Kiowa, Colorado, June 29, 1937, in Golden, Colorado.

Myrven and Estalene lived in several places during their 58 years of marriage - Colorado, New Mexico, California and Washington.

Virgie Leora

CAVINESS

On July 23, 2005, Virgie Caviness passed away, leaving a legacy of her life in both family members and business accomplishments.

Retired for the last 20 years, Caviness, 100, owned and operated the Custom Drapery Company. In her lifetime, born August 14, 1904, she was an accomplished seamstress, short order cook, waitress, wife and mother.

Gertrude Kolstead

Gertrude Kolstead, a 91-year-old resident of West Seattle, passed away July 31, 2005. Gertrude was born June 16, 1914 in Ellensburg, WA. She came to West Seattle in 1934 when she married and never left. Gertrude graduated from Broadway High School and Griffin-Murphy Business College. She worked at the Bon Marche, various office positions, West Seattle Herald, and helped in the family's business ventures. She was a member of Hiawatha Garden Club and the West Seattle Artist Guild.

Selma Hergert

Lost her battle with cancer. Born: August 26, 1933, Rosenthal-Chortitza, Ukraine, Died July 29, 2005, Seattle, WA. 41 year resident of West Seattle. Survived by children: Victor (Sandy, Brie, Colton) Karla (Chuck), Mark (Kristen), Erik, (Jen, Destry, Marina, Dakota). Services held 8/3/05. "It Is Well With Her Soul."

Robert L. Beadell

Passed away at Evergreen Hospice July 26, 2005. Born Aug. 26, 1928 in Puyallup, Washington to parents Esther and Claude Beadell. Left behind his wife and high school sweetheart of 54 years; three daughters, Deborah Davis, Sheryl Bannister, Robin Peterson; four grandsons, three granddaughters, three great grandsons;. Sister Betty Grittman, brother Roy Beadell, nieces, nephews, and many friends from H.P.I.C. He was a 1948 graduate of West Seattle High School.

Arthur Stephen "Steve" AMENDE

Arthur Stephen "Steve" Amende, age 55, passed peacefully on July 28, 2005, at his home.

Steve is survived by his mother, Evelyn B.I. Amende; two sisters, Janice Brockway and Kathy Peffer (Doug); two brothers, Larry and Allan Amende; seven nieces and nephews and two great nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Arthur-John Amende, in 1970.

A memorial service was held Aug. 5 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of SeaTac.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made to American Heart Association or EarthSave.
