The King County Prosecuting Attorney's office released a statement regarding the first court appearance for the suspect in the stabbing/assault/robbery incident on May 12 in the Admiral District. See our coverage here.
" The Court found probable cause for Robbery in the Second Degree and Assault in the First Degree with a Deadly Weapon and set bail at $250,000.
No previous cases involving the defendant have been referred to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for a charging decision.
A first appearance hearing following an arrest is not the same as what’s required by law for a felony charging decision, which has a higher burden of proof. In all types of cases, it is routinely in the days after a first appearance hearing that police investigators send a case referral to prosecutors for a charging decision. King County prosecutors do not have that felony case referral from police now but anticipate getting that case referral from police investigators by Friday for a charging decision. The defendant remains in the King County Jail on the $250,000 bail amount set by the first appearance Court. Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in court."
What follows is the officers arrest statement regarding the incident:
"On 05/12/2025 at about 1750 hours I was working uniform patrol within the City of Seattle as 2-William-11. I was dispatched to PCC Supermarket (2749 California Ave SW) to investigate a stabbing.
The following incident was recorded on BWV and ICV.
The remarks on the call stated, “INSIDE, MALE CAME IN AND SAID HE HAS BEEN STABBED”
Upon arrival, I spoke with VICTIM/Levi Painter who had an obvious wound to his left shoulder. There was a significant amount of blood soaked into his shirt.
SFD arrived to the scene to provide aid. A medic on scene advised that it is unknown how deep the stab wound went into his shoulder and that it would require stitches.
Levi stating that he was walking down California Ave SW when an unknown male approached him and stabbed him with what appeared to be a kitchen knife.
The unknown male stated something unintelligible then asked Painter, “Did it hurt?” The unknown male left the scene on foot. This was an unprovoked random stabbing on a City of Seatle public sidewalk. Painter was transported to Harborview Medical Center by AMR 440.
VICTIM/VALENTINE, Patricia approached me on scene. She stated that an unknown male approached and demanded that she hand over her cell phone while she was outside on the phone with her pharmacy. She refused. The unknown suspect rushed her, grabbed her left wrist and twisted her arm back. Valentine released the phone. The unknown male ran away from the scene with Valentine’s cell phone. The cell phone was recovered several blocks away with the suspect’s belongings in the backyard of a stranger’s house the suspect was running through. Officer Rigon returned Valentine’s cell phone to her. Valentine advised she had shooting pain in her left arm but refused to be seen by SFD.
The suspect was apprehended several blocks away from the scene after an estimated 30-minute track involving K9. The suspect absconded through several community members backyards by hopping their fence and running through until he was apprehended.
Valentine conducted a field show-up and positively identified the suspect as the one who robbed her of her cell phone. Sergeant Macniak screened the incident on scene. Levi had described a similar looking suspect as Valentine and the one that was apprehended
I conducted a sworn statement with Valentine. Valentine and Levi received a business card with their incident number."
