Original Post Sept. 9
This year, Kendra McLeod, a West Seattle resident, will participate for the first time in The Susan G Koman 3-Day 60 mile walk with her team Heart and Souls: Wytana Conner(cousin), Jeana Gresham(cousin), and Jana Wilbur(Aunt).
McLeod has already embarked on a physical and emotional journey in preparation for the 60-mile walk.
McLeod has spent lots of time training for the event’s physical demands and fundraising at least $2300 (she still needs to raise more as do the other members of the team) to help fund innovative breast cancer research, scientific programs and community outreach programs. The culmination of McLeod’s efforts is completing the 60 mile walk with thousands of other 3-Day® participants on September 20-22 in Seattle' Susan G. Komen 3-Day.
She has learned about breast cancer risks, myths and facts, as well as the action steps necessary to reduce the own risk of breast cancer. The choice to participate was easy for McLeod, “I am walking for my three aunts (all sisters) that have had to stare breast cancers ugly face in the eyes and fight. These three amazing Warriors have given me the STRENGTH to do the walk." At last report she was within $300 of her goal.
If you'd like to donate to help her reach her goal, any amount will help. Here the link to donate to Kendra's effort.
Each year, more than 200,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women and nearly 2,000 cases are diagnosed in men in the U.S. To help McLeod reach her goal of a world without breast cancer, make a donation to or her team mates of Heart and Souls by visiting The3Day.org/Donate participant search for Kendra McLeod. Each member has got to make it to $2300 so if you see that others like yourself have gotten Kendra to the goal and the other teammates still need more please feel free to give to them.
