The Seattle Department of Transportation’s Urban Design Team is launching a series of community outreach events to co-create the future of local streets. As part of the People Streets and Public Spaces Program, officials are seeking resident input for two major pedestrian-focused projects: the Delridge Triangle Pedestrian Street and the Lander Pedestrian Street.
Designing the Lander Pedestrian Street
In Admiral, the city is focused on improvements for SW Lander St. Neighbors are encouraged to visit with project leads during the West Seattle Farmers Market on Sunday, August 2, from 10 am to 2 pm at California Ave SW & SW Alaska. A more intensive Community Design Charrette for the Lander project is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the intersection of SW Lander St & California Ave SW.

Shaping the Delridge Triangle
Residents near 18th Ave SW, SW Barton St, and Delridge Way SW have two upcoming opportunities to share their thoughts on transforming the Delridge Triangle into a more pedestrian-friendly area. Outreach begins at the Delridge Farmers Market on Saturday, August 8, from 10 am to 2 pm at 8855 9th Ave SW. Following this, the Urban Design Team will host a Community Design Charrette on Monday, August 10, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, located directly at the project site at 18th Ave SW & Delridge Way SW.

A Path Toward Completion
These projects are funded by the voter-approved Seattle Transportation Levy. Both initiatives are currently in the "Early Outreach" and "Co-Create Design" phases throughout Summer 2026. According to the project timelines, the Urban Design Team plans to finalize concepts by Fall 2026 and complete the final designs by Winter 2026/27. If the process stays on track, residents can expect to see improvements implemented by Spring or Summer 2027.
