A power out hit parts of Burien around midday on Jan. 5 affecting 4900 City Light customers including the Fred Meyer store, which was shut down. 

Even though the West Seattle Bridge reopened on September 17, 2022, after a more than two year closure, the process of repairing and then checking on those repairs has continued.

A crowd estimated to be as many as 5000 people descended on Alki Beach on New Year's morning to take part in the annual Polar Bear Plunge.
