Twenty-first-century "hooky"

When two youngsters skipped school recently, they decided they wanted some company. They posted a message on a chat-line, claiming to be 19 year olds who wanted dates for brunch and a movie. Two men in their 20's responded and came over. One had intercourse with one of the girls, who is actually 14. Police were called after one of the girls told her principal what had happened.

A local ten-year-old is in the care of Child Protective Services after she was found locked out of her Admiral-area home in soaking wet shoes.

The Seattle School District has told the two schools they will not only share the newer Cooper site starting in the fall of 2007, but that they are to work to devise an entirely new alternative school.
