Burke-Gilman Trail design nearly finished

The city of Seattle is finishing the design of a mile long Burke Gilman Trail extension from Northwest 60th Street to Golden Gardens Park.

Despite what has historically been a rancorous debate over the plan to build a bike path though the heart of Ballard, designing this section of trail has been a relatively smooth process.

The trail segment, which city planners say is about 90 percent designed, runs along a railroad right-of-way east of Seaview Avenue, then crosses the track and runs along the avenue itself from about 67th street, to the trail's end at Golden Gardens Pa

Development is at a torrid pace

A recently announced Ballard development is part of the transformation of Northwest Market Street from sleepy, hinterland high street into an urban canyon on par with Belltown.

Trammell Crow, an international real estate firm, recently announced its intention to build an eight story apartment complex on Market Street at 17th Avenue Northwest which will sit across from another eight story development now under construction.

Michael Derr, with Trammell Crow Residential, described the development during a recent Ballard District Council meeting, and said a second, six story

He was born in 1918. His father, Jack Latman Pheasant was the president of the Ballard Eagles Aerie No.

Norse biker aspires to go around the world

Rune Monstad had to ride a bicycle 16,000 to get robbed in Seattle.

Nine months ago Monstad climbed on his mountain bike and pedaled out of Cochabamba, Bolivia, but was robbed 30 minutes after arriving here recently. His wallet, money and passport were taken from his bicycle.

But what compels a man to get onto a bicycle and pedal across two continents and set sights on the entire world?

Monstad calls himself a "Viking Biker," an apt moniker.

Rants and raves in Federal Way

I'll start with the Raves, and you will see that I'm a reasonably content person: There are four raves and only three rants.

Took Mrs. Anthony's car in to have the brakes checked.

She was sure that they were in need of attention, and so I popped down to Les Schwab to see Matt and Doug.

These guys are amazing, and really, the marketing and customer service plan that Schwab teaches their employees should be standard issue for any service oriented business.

Matt gave me a quote over the phone, in less than thirty seconds.
