ArtsWest has announced their 2021-2022 season WHEN WE WAKE, with six productions – three world premieres and three Seattle premieres – featuring plays by innovative and original new voices in the American theater. This is the first season programmed by a collective of ArtsWest Associate Artists in collaboration with ArtsWest leadership, demonstrating a new power-sharing model of season curation. The season will be presented with an in-person option, including socially distanced performances, as well as an online option.

The National Weather Service is now forecasting extremely high temperatures for western Washington from Friday afternoon through Monday afternoon with temperatures possibly exceeding 100 degrees.

EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with afternoon highs in the 90s and possibly near 100 Saturday and Sunday.
* WHERE...Portions of western Washington.
* WHEN...From Friday afternoon through Monday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight lows during this time frame will only cool off into the 60s and thus will not offer much in the way of cooling.

The Port of Seattle is planning to take down roughly 11 acres of trees and eliminate a popular bike riding area in North SeaTac Park to build a 1500 space paved parking lot. The plan is part of the short term planning for the Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP). It's not imminent but if carried out would get underway in the next few years.
It has been met with a groundswell of opposition from area residents, park users and local officials.
The Port’s plan calls for the construction of a large employee parking lot in an area that for well over two decades has been park land and home to bike riding trails for a particular kind of bicycling called BMX and Mountain Biking.

Smack dab in the middle of West Seattle, you can find a fashion boutique by the name of Lika Love (think Leeka Love). The face behind the threads, Malika Siddiq, is intelligent, humble, and full of passion for her work.
Now she has added a so called Speakeasy called In The Heart, and true to Speakeasy tradition it has no signage and you enter on the alley.
Eager to tell the story of how the new addition to the boutique came to fruition, she recalls the words of a friend back in 2013 ‘You should turn it into a bar.’
At first, she stood slightly intimidated in her new retail space, with all the room, but it has evolved into a store and event space.
