Ride around becomes carjacking at gunpoint in West Seattle

At 5:49am on Thursday a victim stated that their car was stolen and a shot had been fired. Victim told Officers that they had met the suspects in Sea-Tac and decided to drive around with them.

They stated that they drove around for several hours and ended up in the West Seattle area. Victim stated that the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired a shot into the air. The suspect then pointed the gun at the victim’s head demanding the vehicle. The victim complied. A few hours passed between the incident and the call to 911.

The victim was given transport back to Sea-Tac.

An area check was negative in results.

West Seattle community grapples with shelter issues, celebrates crime reductions at safety meeting

The Southwest Precinct Advisory Council (SWPAC) meeting, held at the Alki Masonic Center on the evening of October 7 served as a crucial forum for community members to engage directly with the Seattle Police Department (SPD) and local leaders regarding crime and public safety in West Seattle. The event, themed "Let Your Voice Be Heard," featured introductions from Community Leads and City representatives, followed by updates from Southwest Precinct officers, including Lieutenant Wes Collier and CSO Matt Brown, filling in for Jennifer Satterwhite who was away on leave.

Roughly 55 people attended the meeting.

While officials touted significant drops in year-to-date crime, the majority of the discussion centered on safety concerns and open-air drug use related to a privately owned local facility, the Westside Neighbors Shelter.

The now 4-0 West Seattle Wildcats visit Lakeside of Seattle for 7 p.m. Thursday action this week.
Foster entertains Evergreen at the same time Friday as Mount Rainier hosts Kentwood at Highline Memorial and Ballard gets a visit from Seattle Prep.

Highline hits the road to Lake Washington, also at 7 p.m. Friday, and Kennedy Catholic plays host to Auburn-Riverside at 1 p.m. Saturday at Highline Memorial.

Any fifth and deciding game of Seattle's American League Divisional series will be played at T-Mobile Park this Friday.

It is currently scheduled for 1:40 p.m. but may be changed to the evening.

The series winner opens the American League Championship Series with Sunday action.

Celebrate Harvest Fest in West Seattle Sunday October 26

West Seattle Junction Association is inviting the community to join in the seasonal celebration at Harvest Fest on Sunday, October 26th, from 11 AM to 2 PM. The event will take place in the heart of the Junction, along California Ave SW between SW Alaska and SW Edmunds. This free, family-friendly event is a cherished fall tradition in West Seattle, offering a variety of festive activities for all ages.

Attendees can look forward to a Costume Parade led by the West Seattle High School Marching Band, a performance by the Seattle Thrillers at noon, a Pie-Eating Contest presented by A La Mode Pies, and a Chili Cook-Off benefiting the West Seattle Food Bank. Additionally, there will be Sidewalk Trick-or-Treating from 11 AM to 2 PM, live music, activity booths, and various surprises throughout the event.

REMINDER: Community to meet with Southwest Precinct officers Oct. 7

Southwest Precinct neighbors will have the opportunity to engage directly with local law enforcement at the upcoming Southwest Precinct Advisory Council meeting. The event, themed "Let Your Voice Be Heard," is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, October 7th, at the Alki Masonic Center.

The community meeting will take place from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at 4736 40th Avenue SW. It aims to foster communication between the community and the Seattle Police Department.

The agenda for the evening is structured to cover several key areas. The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM with introductions from Community Leads, the Community Chairperson, and representatives from the City of Seattle.

Following introductions, at 6:45 PM, officers from the Southwest Precinct will provide an update. Scheduled speakers include 2nd Watch Lieutenant Wes Collier, Project Officer Barreto, and Crime Prevention Coordinator (CPC) Jennifer Satterwhite.

Transcendence. An ache for a personal authentic beauty and order. When it's good, you feel like you are channeling something electric and flowing. Exultation.

Patrick Robinson asked me how I was able give my all to my painting and poetry. How to stop a self inflicted early edit from killing my beginnings.

When I was able to paint well (I can't anymore because of an advancing tremor), I would get my materials in order–paint brushes, paint, canvas and paper, and maybe pencil some thumbnail sketches. A painter's version of  a chef's mise en place.
