Ballard Encampment meeting with the Mayor's Office set for August 12
Mon, 08/03/2015
Last month, the Mayor’s Office released a list of seven potential City-owned sites that could be used for sanctioned tent encampments. Three of the sites were recommended for use in 2015, and one of those sites is 2826 NW Market Street in the Ballard neighborhood.
The public will hear from City staff about:
· The ordinance passed by City Council in March that allows sanctioned tent encampments on City-owned or private land in non-residential zones.
· The selection process to identify possible City-owned sites.
· The operations of and conditions for sanctioned encampments.
· The additional work that the City of Seattle is doing to address the crisis of homelessness.
Staff from the Human Services Department, the Department of Planning and Development, and the Department of Neighborhoods will be on hand to answer questions and discuss their work.
