San Gennaro Foundation of Seattle brings an Italian street fair with authentic Italian food, wine and entertainment to the Georgetown neighborhood September 8-10th, 2017
The San Gennaro Foundation of Seattle is excited to be back in Georgetown for its 5th annual “San Gennaro Festival” to take place September 8-10th. This three-day Italian festival in Georgetown brings together the best in Italian cuisine, a beer and wine garden, activities for kids, merchandise booths and three nights of live music and dancing.
This year’s headliner is direct from Italy, singer/song writer, Roby Santini, playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. New this year will be the La Cucina Galbani® Cooking Stage, featuring 4 amazing local chefs, as well as Celebrity Chef Marco all the way from Buffalo, NY. Local chefs include Tamera Murphy from Terra Plata, Brian Gojdics from Tutta Bella, Michela Tartaglia from Cucina Casalinga, and Joe Verdoliva from Frankie’s B Town Bistro.
Also look out for Galbani® mascot Stringster throughout the event handing out free samples of their popular String Cheese.
The festival will once again hold a blood drive to raise awareness and much needed donations for Bloodworks Northwest. Last year, the festival collected 16 pints of blood and saved 48 lives.
Other highlights include an expanded children/family area with different activities throughout the day, including free face painting and crafts, and a traditional procession Saturday morning starting at 11:00 p.m. We will have a happy hour in the beer/wine garden Friday afternoon to get things started, which will include a deal on the traditional Italian drink, the Aperol Spritz.
Sunday night will feature the raffle drawing for two grand prizes! The first is a 2006 Vespa, and the second is a trip for 2 to Italy! Details on the raffle can be found on the website, and tickets are $5 for the Vespa, and $10 for the Italy Trip. Winners do not need to be present to win.
The San Gennaro Foundation is a non-profit organization created in 2013 to honor St. Gennaro, the Patron Saint of Naples, and his commitment to help people in need. The Foundation’s goal is to raise money through events such as the San Gennaro Festival to help support local community efforts. This year Cathedral Kitchen and Plus One are the charities selected to receive proceeds from the Festival.
