Evergreen's Long History
The school has undergone multiple transformations since its establishment in 1959. For decades, it served as a cornerstone of the Highline School District, but in 2007, Evergreen was divided into three smaller schools: Technology, Engineering & Communications (TEC), Health Sciences & Human Services (HS3), and Arts & Academics Academy (AAA). This change was part of a district-wide initiative funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, aimed at improving student outcomes through smaller learning environments.
However, after a decade of operating as separate schools, the district reevaluated the model and, in 2017, decided to reunify the campus, once again branding it as Evergreen High School. The school retained its Wolverine mascot and iconic green and white colors, marking a return to tradition.
Now, Evergreen High School is undergoing its most ambitious transformation yet. Thanks to a 2022 bond measure, the school is receiving a brand-new facility designed to accommodate 1,200 students. The new campus is still under construction in the northeast corner of the existing site, with plans for completion in fall 2025. Once the new building is operational, the old structures will be demolished, paving the way for a modernized learning environment.
