Al passed away September 2 after a very short battle of metastasized colon cancer. Al was born in Cle Elum, Washington, on December 31, 1919, to Mary Sciacero and Dominic Martin Pricco.

Al is survived by his sister Esther Schaute, and was preceded in death by his brother Atillio Pricco (10/21/93). His first wife, Margaret (Peggy) Parsons, preceded him in death 2/21/07. Their children are son Martin Pricco (Heidi) Parsons and daughter Diedre Pricco Parsons. Their grandchildren are Martin Parsons, Quentin Parsons and Angela Parsons.

Age 72, died peacefully at home in Palm Springs, Calif. on Monday, August 20, 2007. He was a generous, loving man who dedicated much of his life to those less fortunate. A graduate of Seattle's Lincoln High School, he is fondly remembered as a counselor at Santa Barbara City College and as the Executive Director of the Ballard Food Bank.

He is deeply missed by his sister, Sonya Relei of Seattle, Wash.; his brothers Michael Shupe of Anchorage, Ala. and Jerry Thorpe of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept.

After a nine month battle with lung cancer, Rod passed away at home on 8/25/07 - at age 63. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Gwen, their son Dean and his wife Ann; daughter Deana and her husband Jeff Falk; sister Betty Lou and husband Stu O'Donnell; brother Randy and his wife Linda; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceeded in death by his parents Orrin and Lucille Dahley, and sister Barbara Anderson.

Rod was born July 29, 1944, Bremerton Washington, the third of four children.

Longtime West Seattle resident, Dagny went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 23, 2007 after suffering a stroke. Born on August 3, 1923 in Pitea, Sweden, she came to the U.S. at age six. She lived in Ballard, then Alaska, and then Ballard again for her senior year of high school.

Dagny married Howard Carlson of Rockford, Illinois in 1942. They had two children. Howard was killed in action on Okinawa in 1945. She married Len Hagardt in 1950 becoming mother to his two sons.

Passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2007. He had worked for the Discovery Shop, which is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, since it opened in November 1990. Al was on our first Board of Directors, and he remained as the Maintenance Chairman for the whole 17 years. He was also instrumental in preparing the property at the Discovery Shop located on 4535 California Avenue in West Seattle.

Al has been one of the most reliable and loyal of all the Discovery Shop's 75 or so volunteers. Need a light bulb replaced? Need a new sign made? Need the toilet repaired?

Joseph Henry Smith Sr., 69, died August 31, 2007 at his home in Shelton. He was born March 28, 1938 in Seattle to Ernest George and Evelyn Elizabeth (Ulvestad) Smith. He married Shirley E. Wright on August 15, 1959 in Fort Lawton, WA.

He worked as a truck driver for various companies for 38 years, a forklift operator for the Todd Shipyards for six years and was a truck driver instructor for two years. Joseph was a member of Teamsters Local 174 in Seattle.

Pauline Iona Woodward, 91, a loving wife, devoted mother and retired educator, passed away August 24, 2007, in her residence in Los Angeles, Calif.

A memorial service was held September 1, 2007, at Kingsley Manor Chapel.

Pauline was born in Ellensburg on December 13, 1915, to Carl and Iona Ryan. She was raised in Seattle where she graduated from Ballard High School. Pauline attended Central Washington College of Education and earned a bachelor's degree in education. She taught elementary school in Newport, Wash. (1939-1940), and in Snohomish.

On September 2, 2007, Michael William Sipes passed away while enjoying one of his passions in life, golf.

Michael "Mike" was the son of a railroad agent and grew up at the railroad depot in Grangeville, Idaho. He moved with his family to Lewiston, Idaho, in 1963, then to Tacoma in 1967 and graduated from Wilson High School in 1968. From there he attended multiple colleges, eventually graduating from the University of Washington with a bachelor's degree in Zoology.

Shirley Lee Probasco went to be with her beloved husband, Bill, on August 30, 2007, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Shirley was born on December 29, 1934, in Twin Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Idaho State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in teaching. Bill and Shirley were married February 9, 1957, and moved to Seattle. Shirley was a kind and caring teacher. She touched many lives as a teacher, friend, volunteer, musician, grandmother and wonderful mom. Shirley was an inspiration in many ways.
