All aboard through all doors: King County Metro to make boardings faster, more efficient on the nation’s busiest transit corridor

King County Metro passengers will be able to board all doors on all buses on Third Avenue in downtown Seattle starting March 23, making boardings faster and more efficient in busiest transit corridor in the country.
The change will go into effect the same day that Metro will increase the amount of service it provides and all bus routes transition out of the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel and onto surface streets. The transition will make way for the eventual increase in Sound Transit Link light rail service.
The City of Seattle will help commuters by creating a new transit pathway on Fifth and Sixth avenues during evening commutes. Seattle Department of Transportation is upgrading traffic signals to increase efficiency in the downtown corridor.
25 unit efficiency apartment bldg. proposed for 35th; Six parking spots
A Land Use Application has been filed with Seattle's Dept of construction and inspection to allow a 4-story apartment building with 25 small efficiency dwelling units and retail at 9037 35th SW. Parking for 6 vehicles proposed. The Existing building would be demolished.
It is project number 3032402-LU. The comment period ended March 4.

SEPA Environmental Determination (This project is subject to the Optional DNS Process (WAC 197-11-355) and Early DNS Process (SMC 25.05.355). This comment period may be the only opportunity to comment on the environmental impacts of this proposal.

High Point Play Area ribbon cutting set for March 23; Music, treats and a bike parade are planned
The public is invited to come to the ribbon cutting of the new High Point Play area on Saturday, March 23 to enjoy a few hours of fun and celebrate completion of the renovation.

This play area improvement project relocated the previous play area to the south open lawn area providing ADA access and increased safety by making the play area more visible from the street. The new play area size increased from 1,280 sf to 5,260 sf and upgraded it to the Parks Dept. standard size for a community center.
Open Houses set for South Park Community Center renovations; Input sought on new spray park features
Seattle Parks is holding two open houses regarding the upcoming renovations planned for the South Park Community Center and spray park features. The project will replace playground equipment which will include play elements and access for children of all ages and abilities. A future off leash dog park is also planned. The first open house is scheduled for March 29, from 5pm to 8pm and the second will follow a few weeks later on April 19 also from 5pm to 8pm.
Both will be held at the South Park Community Center, 8319 8th Ave. South Seattle 98108.
Food and children's activities will be provided.
The budget for the project has been set at $800,000

Patricia A. Wamsley
Patricia A. Wamsley, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the age of 87. Patty was born in Winchester, ID in 1931 to Hilliard and Katherine Patton. She grew up near Craigmont, Idaho on the family homestead amongst a large extended family on the Camus Prairie. She attended St. Gertrude’s Academy in Cottonwood, Idaho before graduating from Craigmont High School. She went on to attend the University of Idaho and then received her teaching certificate from the Lewiston Normal. She taught elementary school in Pasco, WA until she married Arnold “Red” Wamsley, also of Craigmont in 1956.
