Update 7/16/21

Former Seattle Seahawk and West Seattle business co-owner (Wingstop) Richard Sherman, was arrested, arraigned and released on his own recognizance on July 15 after waiving his right to appear. Now the King County Prosecuting Attorney's office has filed five criminal charges against him.

This morning the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed five criminal charges against Richard Kevin Sherman:

Discover Burien is ready to rock the block in Olde Burien on July 17 with the triumphant return of the Olde Burien Block party. 

This annual all-ages community event is perfect for couples, families and friends to enjoy. Set right in the heart of Olde Burien, the Olde Burien Block Party is both charming and fun! Box Car Derby Races are a regular part of this event, as well as outdoor dining and music.

The street will be closed on 152nd SW between Ambaum Blvd and 10th SW (in the morning to permit setup and the event will run from Noon to 11pm.

Scheduled to appear are Barring the Weather 5pm, The Rallies 7pm, and The Approximations at 9pm. Lots of food, and fun are to be had.

Washington Baseball Academy is holding tryouts for baseball players 8U-18U for the upcoming 2021-2022 season.

The WBA teams will train out of Go Time Athletics West Seattle indoor training facility located at 4835 West Marginal Way SW and Go Time Athletics Georgetown facility located at 661 South Orcas St.

The Evergreen High School Class of 1964 recently presented a special gift to the school, in honor of their 55th reunion.

This gift has been more than two years in the making and we are excited to finally unveil an original oil painting by nature & landscape artist Jim Lamb '64 entitled 'Wolverine at Edith Creek.'

Jim and gift class organizers Tim Robinson '64 & Jean Thurber '64 recently presented the painting to our Evergreen principal & assistant principals.

The painting will hang in the main office and be moved to the new Evergreen High School when it is built.

Adam Heimstadt is a modern day visionary.

But even visionaries have to live in the real world.

He and his wife Kaileigh Wilson are co-owners of The Unicorn and Narwhal restaurant/bars on Capitol Hill. The twin bars sit atop one another and are a "carnival punk rock party bar" said Heimstadt. But when the pandemic shut everything down things looked dire. "That business funds everything else. Then thinking we weren't going to catch a break, we were concerned."

The Unicorn is an experience style bar with a friendly edge. Wildly colorful, the space is visually dazzling so without the experience the to-go business (comprised primarily of carnival/circus style foods) suffered too.

The Birdhouse Coffee shop and restaurant (formerly Bird on a Wire) at 3507 SW Henderson Street has commissioned a large scale mural on an adjacent wall facing north that is full of Seattle and northwest symbolic art, all meant to beautify the area, be a kind of landmark and be a fundraiser too. T-shirts carrying the same design are for saie inside The Birdhouse and all proceeds raised from the T shirt sales, go back to Urban Artworks, who are helping to get the mural done.

Just over a week after the Lumberyard Bar in White Center was destroyed by an arson set fire, they announced via Facebook that they have found a new location. They are seeking help in getting the new space outfitted. 

The owners suspect that the fire was set as a hate crime since they are one of very few LGBTQ establishments on the Westside. It was originally deemed accidental until new video evidence was found that pointed to arson as the cause. A $10,000 reward is beiing offered to anyone whose information leads to arrest and conviction of the perpetrator(s).

The new space is located essentially across the street, east of the former location, in a space that had been in preparation previously for a new restaurant but had been halted for reasons that are not known at this time.
