For many West Seattle residents, Thanksgiving Day has a beloved tradition that extends beyond the family table: the complimentary Friendsgiving spread offered annually by the Admiral Pub. This year, pub owners Billy Conwell and Alex Garcia are expanding their generous community effort by hosting a free concert featuring the talented local jazz duo Reis & Cates.

The Admiral Pub’s doors will open on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27th, 2025, at 2 p.m.. This annual event is designed to give back to the community and provide a warm, inviting space for those without a traditional family celebration. They are located at 2306 California Ave SW

Election Update: Late ballots bring seismic shift: Wilson pulls ahead in Seattle Mayor’s race

In a dramatic turn following the processing of tens of thousands of additional votes, challenger Katie Wilson has officially overtaken incumbent Bruce Harrell in the tightly contested Seattle Mayor's race, according to unofficial election results updated November 10, 2025.

The shift reflects a significant surge in overall voter participation across King County. As of November 10, 637,372 ballots had been counted countywide, representing a 44.14% turnout among registered voters. This is a substantial increase from the 429,014 ballots counted just days earlier, as reported in the November 7 update.

Mayor’s Race Flips Margin

The most crucial change occurred in the City of Seattle, which saw its counted ballots jump from 175,739 as of the November 7 update to 272,041 by November 10.

Jogger assaulted with a pistol near 16th and Barton

At 8:37 am, on Sunday Nov. 9 officers responded to reports of an assault with a firearm near 16 Av SW/SW Barton St. The victim stated that while jogging, he was approached by several subjects near an RV.

Unprovoked, the suspect struck him on the side of the head with a handgun, then fired a couple of shots in the air. Field show-up was negative.

Officers located shell casings near the RV parked on 16 Av SW/SW Barton St. Suspect description was WM, 40-50 years old.

This incident was screened with GVRU.

Chief Sealth makes it to state Volleyball tournament

Chief Sealth slammed its way into the state Class 2A volleyball tournament Saturday, cruising to a 3-1 victory over Nathan Hale in the match for the second and final berth out of district play.

The Seahawks will journey to the Yakima Valley Sun Dome to open state at a time and against an opponent to be announced.

Chief Sealth played Cedarcrest in the district championship earlier in the day Saturday but came up short in that match, 3-2.

Evergreen and Foster played in the same tournament but missed out on state.

Foster was eliminated by Nathan Hale earlier Saturday, 3-1, and Evergreen was ousted by Lindbergh, 3-0.

West Seattle reached the end of its Class 3A playoff road with Saturday's loss in Kennewick.

Kennedy Catholic launched out into Class 4A playoff action with a Friday shutout of the Kangaroos.

The Lancers carry an 8-2 record into a state game to be announced next week.

 

Olympic 27, Chief Sealth 14

The Seahawks fell to the Trojans in a Friday 2A road playoff.

 

Central Kitsap 28, Mt. Rainier 10

Central Kitsap beat the host Rams in a non-playoff crossover Friday.

The Beavers bopped Ingraham in a Friday non-playoff.

West Seattle’s Admiral Theater rolled out the red carpet on Friday, November 7th, for a special screening of the powerful documentary, Matter of Time. Drawing more than 100 attendees, the event served as both a celebration of the film's production and an urgent call to action to find a cure for Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).

Community spirit soars: Joiner Jamboree connects 62 local groups in West Seattle and White Center

The inaugural Joiner Jamboree, a unique hyper-local festival, successfully convened dozens of community organizations in West Seattle and White Center on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The event ran from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The gathering achieved its goal of connecting residents with community life, growing to encompass 62 participating clubs, groups, and organizations.
