Distributed through the Uplift White Center Community Fund alongside the Elevate Skyway Community Fund, this grant funding supports projects that directly benefit residents in White Center/North Highline and Skyway/West Hill. The initiative relies on a participatory budgeting model designed to center racial equity, transparency, trust, and lived experience. A Community Advisory Board shaped the 2026 grantmaking priorities, and local community members will review and score all eligible proposals.

To help local groups navigate the application process, King County is hosting several information and technical support sessions. Residents can attend the Uplift White Center Community Fund Information Session on September 15 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the White Center Library (1409 SW 107th St., Seattle).

An action-packed slate of sports is ahead across high school, professional, and collegiate levels. Professional teams lead the headlining matchups, highlighted by the Seahawks traveling to Arizona for a Sunday division clash and the Storm hosting Las Vegas at Climate Pledge Arena before playing them on the road. The Mariners wrap up away series in Los Angeles and Colorado before returning home to T-Mobile Park on Tuesday to face Houston. Meanwhile, hockey and soccer fans can look forward to the Kraken hosting Vancouver and the Sounders visiting Colorado.

Community members in King County have a wonderful opportunity to give their favorite household goods and clothing a second life.

 The King County Solid Waste Division is hosting the free White Center Repair Event on September 19, running from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The community gathering will take place at the White Center Fieldhouse (affectionately known as the "Log Cabin") inside Steve Cox Memorial Park, located at 1321 SW 102nd St in Seattle.

On Thursday, September 17th, neighbors and art lovers will gather for the Rat City Art Walk, an event organized by the White Center Business Alliance running from 5pm to 8pm.

The evening features an interactive Art Scavenger Hunt that encourages visitors to stop at four key locations: Misfits Strength Studio, Terraplanted, La Cueva up the stairs, and Patrick's Bakery and Cafe. At each stop, participants can collect a sticker from a featured artist before making their way to Puffy Pandy to pick up a prize, a limited edition Rat City Soccer Scarf.

The Moonroom, a crystal and gem shop at 5902 California Ave SW that opened in 2022 is for sale. Owned by Hannah Roberts and her husband Sean London the shop shared the announcement on social media.

In the 1956 sci fi film Forbidden Planet, Robby the Robot is the kind of artificial intelligence we wish we were building today: bounded, ethical, and governed by hard constraints.

He cannot harm a human being. He cannot act on impulse. He cannot exceed the limits of his programming. Though in the context of the time he sees no problem carrying out the comical creation of multiple bottles of whisky.

Robby is the fantasy of aligned AI, a system that knows its place. Even though he is immensely powerful, he has limits. 

In the film we learn about The Krell,  a civilization that annihilated itself by building a machine whose abilities literally grew to be capable of amplifying human thought.

The Evergreen Aquatic Center Annual Fundraiser 2026 will take place on Saturday, November 7th, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM PST at Savusa Hall at the White Center Hub (10829 8th Ave SW). This year, the community aims to raise $30,000 to ensure individuals and families throughout the region continue to have access to vital recreation, water safety education, and lifeguarding programs. Every contribution helps remove financial barriers to participation, creating opportunities for people of all ages to build confidence and develop life-saving aquatic skills. Attendees will enjoy an evening of community, generosity, and fun featuring live entertainment, a selection of heavy appetizers, and two drink tickets included with admission.
