South Delridge shooting leaves 22‑year‑old hospitalized; Suspect still at large
A 22‑year‑old man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition Tuesday afternoon after being shot in the chest during an altercation in South Delridge. The incident occurred in the 9000 block of 16th Avenue SW shortly after 12:30 p.m., drawing a large response from Seattle Police and Seattle Fire.
In addition to the chest wound, the victim suffered injuries to his hand and leg. Witnesses reported that two men were fighting moments before the gunfire. Police have not yet determined whether the individuals knew each other.
SPD says the shooter walked away toward Henderson Street and has not been located. Officers, including a K‑9 unit, searched the surrounding neighborhood and urged residents to avoid 16th Ave SW while the investigation was underway.
