Richard “Dick” Ernest BAKER JR. 1955 ~ 2015

Following a valiant battle with a previously undiagnosed incurable lung disease, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, compounded by MRSA Pneumonia, Dick passed away December 23, 2015, with his wife and children at his side.
Born to Richard Baker Sr. and Eleanor "Dee" (Plancich) Baker Arnold, Dick was raised on Vashon Island, Washington and settled in West Seattle. He was an active member of the community volunteering with his son's Scout troops, coaching his children in baseball and basketball, umpiring, and an all around positive role model who unselfishly gave his time to help others succeed in life’s pursuits.

An avid outdoorsman, Dick loved to boat, fish and crab at every possible moment and was a beloved member of The West Seattle Yacht Club.

Dick’s love and passion for his family will not be surpassed. He leaves behind his wife, Julie; daughter, Michelle; sons, Christopher and Eddie (Miesha); mother, Dee; brothers, Todd Baker, Scott Baker (Melissa) and Bryan Baker; sister, Judy Buchanan; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dick also leaves behind many other family members and friends who know how much they were loved by such a magnetic man, as the Baker's house was always open to all.

Dick will be truly missed and never forgotten. A celebration of life will be held this spring in West Seattle. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Pulmonary Fibrosis research.
