Ione Louise (Brown) WALTON 1923 ~ 2016

Ione Walton passed away peacefully March 4, 2016, Ione was born July 10, 1923, in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Marian Brown and Edith Louise (Miska) Brown.

Ione grew up in Phoenix and attended Arizona State College in Flagstaff where she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a chaitable organization at that time. She enjoyed her sorority activities and friendships throughout the years.

In 1943, Ione met Henry Walton at a USO dance and they married shortly after. Henry returned to England to serve in the RAF during WWII, and Ione followed shortly after to live in England and be close to her husband. The war ended and they moved to Seattle, Washington, where Henry enjoyed a 37 year career with Boeing Airplane Company and Ione a career in sales and marketing with a Seattle import export company.
Len and Ione enjoyed countless weekends entertaining family and friends at their beach house on Hood Canal. They shared a passion for travel, exploring many parts of the world.

Ione was active in Quarante, Lions Club, Federate Women’s Club, and St. John’s Episcopal Church in West Seattle. She also served on the scholarship committee at South Seattle Community College and volunteered countless hours at the Museum of Flight.

Predeceased by her husband, Henry, (1980) Ione is survived by her sister, Marian Rienecker (John); daughter, Diane Brush (Keith); son, Henry Walton (Linda); grandchildren, Tyler Leonard (Jennifer), Ryan Brush, Matthew Walton, Ashley Walton Frono (Aaron); and great-grandchildren, Robert Anderson and Thomas Leonard.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
