Albert Davis North 1918 ~ 2016

Albert passed away on April 11, 2016 at Mount St. Vincent surrounded by his family. Albert, the second of six children, was born on March 22, 1918 in Eastern Washington to Dr. Charles and Charlotte North. His siblings, Chuck, Ed, Louise and Dick North, preceded him in death.

Albert grew up in West Seattle and attended West Seattle High School. He worked summers on wheat farms in Eastern Washington and later fished in Alaska. He entered the Navy upon graduation from the University of Washington and subsequently served in the Merchant Marine during WWII in the South Pacific earning a Masters License.

He met his wife of 68 years, Lillian Sather of Petaluma CA, at the Marine Hospital where she was a nurse. Albert left the Merchant Marine to become a husband and father and began a 35-year career as a marine insurance underwriter.

Albert and Lillian had three children, Ed North (spouse Regina), Kathy Thurston (Bill) and Jim North (Kelly), six grandchildren, Dan North (Jessica), Erika North (James Carruthers), Kristine Toppe (Greg), Mary Thurston, Kelly Thurston and Michelle North, and three great grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, and Sarah.

Albert enjoyed fishing, skiing (until his 70’s), golf and recently gin rummy at the Rainier Golf Club where he was a member for over 30 years.

Albert is survived by his wife Lillian, three children, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and their spouses, a sister Patty Stamets and, a sister-in-law Janice North.
