Power outages in West Seattle and Burien put people in the dark; pockets still persisting

UPDATE 4:45pm Saturday

The number of customers without power as of 4:45pm in the greater Seattle area was down to 739 with single homes in West Seattle, Burien and elsewhere still out as tree limbs and other wind damage caused outages were being dealt with. The biggest area still dark was in the Seahurst area west of Burien with 84 customers still out from 22nd SW to the water and from 149thSW on the north to near 154th SW on the south. City Light showed that the power would be restored by this evening sometime before 8pm.


SeaTac Council votes to create more affordable housing

The City of SeaTac Council voted tonight to take the first steps toward creating hundreds of new units of affordable housing along the Sound Transit Light Rail corridor. In a 5-1 vote, the Council authorized the City Manager to sign a Purchase and Sales Agreement with CAP Acquisitions, LLC (AKA Inland Group) for the purchase of City of SeaTac properties located in the vicinity of S.154th St. and International Blvd, including the SeaTac Center.


National Weather Services issues High Wind Watch for Friday

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch starting at 10am Friday morning through 7pm. They say gusts could reach 60mph in Seattle, Tacoma, and Bremerton.
