Drug activity in SeaTac leads to police chase and arrest

On Monday, August 19, a SeaTac Detective observed suspicious activity occurring in the SeaTac Safeway parking lot.

Believing he had witnessed a narcotics transaction, he called for uniformed officers to assist with the investigation. As officers moved up to make the contact, one of the involved parties used his vehicle to ram one of the police vehicles and flee the scene. After a short pursuit, officers terminated the chase and lost sight of the fleeing vehicle.

Help on the way: Southbound SR99 corridor buses routed to Fourth Avenue, improving evening commute

West Seattle, Burien, and neighboring area bus riders will see more consistent travel times starting Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. After monitoring travel and transit times for buses on First Avenue and identifying significant impacts for commuters, officials from King County Metro and Seattle Department of Transportation announced a service revision that takes southbound buses off First Avenue and on to a pathway that utilizes Second Avenue and Fourth Avenue South.

The West Seattle Kiwanis crew are giving away the final 100 swag bags from the neighborhood grant the Junction and the West Seattle Chamber co-authored. Folks can stop by their booth (located at the sound end of the Farmers market) starting at 10 AM this Saturday.

They will be handing out the bags which are full of goodies and coupons, until gone.

King County Council passes new authority to invest millions of dollars for affordable housing

Today by a unanimous vote the King County Council passed legislation that allows King County to directly access approximately $100 million in funding for affordable housing (2019‑0354 and 2019‑0355) over the next 20 years.

Rick Steves hosts Kohl-Welles fundraiser

Travel expert Rick Steves hosted a fundraiser for King County Council candidate Jeanne Kohl-Welles Sunday at his home in Edmonds. According to Kohl-Welles, "It was a wonderfully sparkling event with well over a hundred people attending. Rick, Council Chair Rod Dembowski, Former CM Larry Phillips and Rep. Lillian Ortiz-Self spoke. Large number of elected officials there."

In a news relese, Kphl-Welles said "We’re less than three months away from the general election, which means that now is the time to get involved in our campaign if you haven’t already. I’m spending lots of time talking with constituents who are telling me they share my priorities for our region.

Alleviating homelessness and investing in affordable housing, transit, public health and child care.
