Seattle Parks and Recreation celebrates 30 years of the Teen Late Night Program

Join Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Teen Late Night Program at Rainier Community Center (4600 38th Ave. S) from 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday, December 13. Community members of all ages are invited to enjoy free food, activities and performances, including music, card tournaments, volleyball, dodgeball, ping pong, dominos, basketball and more, as well as a raffle with prizes.


Herbold: Sound Transit Neighborhood Forums set for 11/21, 12/7

Sound Transit is holding neighborhood forums about the alternatives they will be studying in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. Two meetings will be in West Seattle.

The first, on November 21 from 6-8 p.m., will include all three West Seattle station areas: Alaskan Junction, Avalon, and Delridge. It takes place at the Alki Masonic Center at 4736 40th Avenue SW.


Police arrest teens for Highpoint carjacking

Police arrested two teens after they carjacked a woman in the Highpoint neighborhood on Saturday afternoon.

A woman was driving through the Highpoint neighborhood in the 7100 block of 32 Ave Southwest at 12:50 pm Saturday when two teenage boys got into her running vehicle. The two teens then assaulted the woman before pushing her out of the car and driving away.

Officers flooded the area and spotted the car fleeing. The suspects ditched the car near Riverview Playfield. The two suspects ran across the field where a youth soccer game was taking place. Officers caught one of the suspects and the second was stopped by two parents and held until officers could take control of the situation. 

Officers booked the 14 and 15-year old boys into the Youth services center for investigation of robbery.


White Center Library Guild Holiday Bazaar and Book Sale set for Nov. 16

Come readers, and book lovers, gift givers and everyone who loves libraries.

Used books, non-English language books/cds/dvds, white elephant gifts and holiday items for sale at the White Center Holiday Bazaar and used book sale on Nov. 16. from 10am to 3pm.

All proceeds benefit the programs for the White Center Library.

A free all-ages craft activity will be offered during the bazaar.

White Center Holiday Market set for Dec. 15; You can be part of it

White Center will have it's first Holiday Market on December 15th from 4:00-8:00.  A grant from King County Local Services provides the White Center Chamber of Commerce the opportunity to bring performance artists of various styles to WC during the event. 

The Chamber is asking for lots of business and community participation. There are several avenues available.  Talented community members that are artisans, crafters, or performers can participate as a vendor or perform for a portion of the event. 

Businesses can host a vendor or performer, offer specials or create their own event. 

There will be two holiday market locations, Miss Sheryl's Ballet studio and Drunky Two Shoes for an outdoor market.  Anyone interested in participating as a vendor, performer, or business should contact the chamber at  for more information.
