Kids will "vote" in parade and learning event on Nov. 1 at Puget Ridge Edible Park

If you want to educate children about the importance of voting you might want to bring the kiddos to a kid's parade to a local ballot box being offered in West Seattle Nov.1.

Following a harvest festival and crafts party where kids will vote on the future of their kids' world within our neighborhood, we will be having a kids' parade to our local ballot box at South Seattle College.

It will be held at Puget Ridge Edible Park, 5265 18th Ave. S.W. West Seattle on Sunday November 1st. The Kids' parade to the ballot box starts at 1 pm.

Prestigious Swedish award honors the National Nordic Museum in Seattle

information from Nordic National Museum

National Nordic Museum's Executive Director/CEO Eric Nelson was awarded the Hazelius Medal in Gold on October 24 during a virtual ceremony broadcast from Sweden. The Medal is awarded by the Nordiska Museet in Stockholm each year to individuals who have made significant contributions to Swedish cultural heritage. The Hazelius Medal in Gold is only awarded in extremely rare cases for distinctive efforts.

In announcing this year’s Medal recipient, the Nordiska Musset explained “it has awarded the Hazelius Medal in Gold to Eric Nelson for his tireless work to build bridges of understanding and cooperation between the United States and Sweden, and other Nordic nations. Even though the Museum is in Seattle, it manages to serve as a national and international hub for Nordic values, culture and ideas.”

LETTER: Call for Sound Transit Board to re-consider aerial transit-gondola systems in new EIS

From Martin Westerman, Joyce Hengesbach, Martin Pagel, et al., West Seattle / 206-427-9039

We ask for a new study of aerial cable transit (ACT) as an option for linking West Seattle with SoDo & International District light rail trunk lines.  We want Sound Transit to use the best mobility option for the purpose, and ACT is best for hilly topography.  But ST’s 2014 High-Capacity Transit Technologies Issue Paper rejected ACT, based unfortunately on many inaccuracies and omissions.
