SDOT: West Seattle Bridge weekly update; Post-tensioning form work; expansion joint replacement this weekend 

SDOT expected to make time frame announcement on June 9

Councilmember Lisa Herbold shared on Friday that SDOT is expecting the final two structural pours for specialized concrete next week

The additional recent update we’ve received is that SDOT expects to make a time-frame announcement on June 9th.

Work is continuing on post-tensioning anchorage forms in the south girder.

During the structural concrete pours, there is a review of post-tensioning work completed to date, to make any real-time adjustments needed.

Alki Elementary to be rebuilt; Virtual Public meeting set for June 14

On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Seattle Public Schools will hold a virtual community information meeting about the project to replace the Alki Elementary School building and renovate the gymnasium. 

It’s the first opportunity for most people to learn about the project. The meeting link will be posted on the project webpage on Monday, June 13.

The existing school building will be removed and a new school building will be constructed on the same site. Alki Elementary will move to an interim location during construction.

Seattle Police sponsoring online Westwood Neighborhood Block Watch Meeting June 7

The Seattle Police Southwest Precinct is hoping to raise awareness and reduce crime by sponsoring an online Westwood Village Community Blockwatch meeting.

Crime Prevention Coordinator Jennifer Danner said, "We have invited Daystar Retirement Community, as well as Westwood Village Property Management and Security.

Small fire in Burien library book drop causes minor damage; City Hall closed for the day

Burien City Hall will be closed to in-person services on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Last night, a small fire occurred inside the book drop of the Burien Library, causing some minor damage and acrid smell to circulate through the building. No structural damage occurred.

To give time for the smell to dissipate, Burien City Hall will be closed. A police investigation has been initiated.

Now that the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) comment period has closed, the Sound Transit Board is reviewing public, agency, and Tribal comments, as well as the results of the Draft EIS analysis. We anticipate the Board will confirm or modify the preferred alternative and station locations in July. As a reminder, a preferred alternative indicates a preference among alternatives, but is not a final decision or obligation.

Update 5/15/22

Bobbi Jo Peck has called her relatives and is now in a safe place with her medications.

The relatives and friends of Bobbi Jo Peck have reported her missing as of five days ago.

A missing persons report has been filed with police.

She is 5’9. weighs approximately 200 lbs and has black hair. She is 33 years old.

She was last seen leaving the Willowbrook facility in Kent Washington at  5:00pm last Wednesday wearing back tights.and a long blue jacket with a bag on her arm.

She's from this area and might be in the White Center area.

She needs medication and is currently without it.
