"An Endless Shift" debuts at ArtsWest Theater Jan. 26; Runs through Feb. 19

New production utilizes documentary theatre techniques to give voice to local nurses’ stories from the COVID-19 pandemic

Created from verbatim accounts of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic by the Seattle nurses who were there, AN ENDLESS SHIFT is a tribute to the everyday heroes who were confronted with what would become the longest shift of their lives. It is a journey of challenge, hope, and deep recognition of our common humanity, told in the firsthand words of the humans who were there.

King Co. Prosecuting Atty announces new gun violence prevention unit and new divisions

 King County Prosecuting Attorney Leesa Manion announced some of the first policy and practice changes of her administration, including the creation of a specialized unit dedicated to gun violence prevention and the creation two new divisions: an Economic Crimes and Wage Theft Division and a division focused on gender-based violence and prevention, including rape cases, sexual assaults and domestic violence.

Carjacking by gunpoint in West Seattle

Police received a report of a man held at gunpoint while his vehicle was stolen near Genesee neighborhood Wednesday evening.  

When officers arrived just before 07:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of 45th Avenue Southwest*, the 25-year-old male victim, who was working nearby, reported a co-worker asked if he had started his vehicle. The victim then noticed his vehicle’s engine was running even though he was in possession of the keys.  

As the victim approached his vehicle, it started driving away. The victim ran after his vehicle and was able to pull open the driver side door, but observed the person driving pointing a silver handgun at him. The victim’s vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on Southwest Andover Street.

Police searched for the stolen vehicle but did not locate it.

Burien community feedback requested on stormwater solutions

The City of Burien is in the final phase of developing a Stormwater Management Action Plan (SMAP) to improve water conditions for fish and wildlife in Miller Creek. The SMAP identifies steps the City can take to reduce the harmful effects of stormwater runoff.

Solutions include physical, built projects and programs that change the way land is managed. Learn more about the solutions in the video below, or read more about them on the project page.
