The Clothesline needs your help: Urgent call for Back-to-School clothing donations

Information from the West Seattle Food Bank and Clothesline

For many families in our community, The Clothesline is more than a free clothing bank—it’s a lifeline. Parents working hard to make ends meet rely on The Clothesline to outfit their children for school, but finding the right sizes, styles, and seasonal essentials for growing kids often takes more than one visit. That’s why families start shopping weeks in advance—so they can make multiple trips and piece together everything from jeans and jackets to sneakers and backpacks for each child in their household. Clothing that fits and feels good helps kids show up ready to learn, participate, and flourish.

Jennifer's View: We met in a pumpkin patch

By Jennifer Carrasco

Let me introduce myself to you as I introduced myself to Jerry Robinson and his son Pat Robinson.

In August of 2007, I had a bumper pumpkin harvest in my front yard on 6050 36th Ave.SW, West Seattle. I had planted pumpkins of all sizes, colors and wartiness on both my upper west terrace and my parking median. They must have liked something I fed them because there were vines and blooms and infant pumpkins looping and vining all over the place.

Evergreen High School nears completion as demolition of old campus underway

Evergreen High School is buzzing with activity as its new state-of-the-art facilities are nearly ready to welcome students this September, while simultaneously, the demolition of the old campus has begun to pave the way for future amenities.

The new school buildings are undergoing their final touches, with interior spaces polished, cleaned, and outfitted with equipment. Furniture is arriving, and teachers are preparing to unpack boxes. Outdoors, crews are planting the final shrubs and trees and paving the last sections of the outdoor courtyards and entryways. The kitchen successfully passed its health inspection in June.
