Ready for the wind? Wind gusts up to 50 mph forecast for Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory starting at 8am Tuesday lasting all day until 5pm

They say South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected. Power outages in the most vulnerable areas are likely.

* WHERE...Tacoma Area, Hood Canal Area, Bellevue and Vicinity, Seattle and Vicinity and Bremerton and Vicinity.

* WHEN...From 8 AM to 5 PM PST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Choices down to two for the West Seattle Bridge; 'Rapid Replacement' or repair; Tunnel is rejected

In a Community Town Hall meeting held via Zoom on Monday night Mayor Jenny Durkan clarified that the options for the West Seattle Bridge are down to two. It will be either the so-called "Rapid Replacement" option brought in by engineering firm HNTB or a continuation of the repair program done thus far. The Immersed Tube Tunnel option was clearly rejected by the Mayor due to cost and technical complexity.

Lonnie Jones charged with 2nd Degree assault in Nov. 11 crime; Held on $100,000 bail

Lonnie Jones, 43, has been charged by the King County Prosecuting Attorney with 2nd degree assault in the Nov. 11 attack on 73 year old Gregorio Tagavilla near High Point. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

The charging documents say: 

"The defendant assaulted a 73-year-old man, without provocation. The defendant knocked the victim unconscious and caused a fracture to the orbital bone. The defendant's behavior in this case coupled with his violent history present a significant danger to the community. The defendant has been convicted of Murder 2nd degree, Robbery 1st degree and Assault 3rd degree-Domestic Violence as an adult. The defendant was sentenced to 300 months for Murder 2nd degree and released around 2014. This case represents a second-strike offense for this defendant. The State believes that bail, set in the amount of $100,000 is appropriate and necessary to protect the safety of the community.

Kim Sheridan retiring after 42 years with Fauntleroy Children's Center; Here's a way to honor her

By now, you may have heard that our dear Kim Sheridan of Fauntleroy Children's Center in the Fauntleroy School House is retiring after 42 years. Kim's last day will be at the end of December 2020. We are all searching for ways to honor her dedication and worthy career and what that has meant to so many teachers, specialists, families and children. 

Kim's favorite days of the year are her birthday and Christmas.
