West 5 announcement

Owner Dave Montoure, who founded the restaurant at 4539 California Ave SW,  was hopeful he could keep going if his lease was renewed but said the building owners raised the cost beyond what he could afford and in the face of the pandemic and short staff he chose to close.

Montoure, who grew up in West Seattle opened a seafood restaurant, Kettlefish in Silverdale in 2019. He was named Westsider of the year in 2016 by the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce.

Add your voice in a survey regarding renaming Des Moines Creek Park

Today is the survey deadline on re-naming 'Des Moines Creek Park' to 'SeaTac Des Moines Creek Park.' The City of SeaTac has spent a great deal of effort and millions of dollars maintaining and improving the park, most recently acquiring 8 acres from WSDOT to expand the park, increase, preserve, and protect public green space. Putting SeaTac in the name should help identify 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗧𝗮𝗰 and increase community pride of ownership.

Also new are cocktails and beer. The featured cocktail is the Tokyo Iced Tea on draft has Midori, Vodka, Triple Sec and Rum. Also on draft are Sapporo and Bodhizafa IPA and Two Towns Cider.

SDOT: High bridge repair: We’re hoisting the final work platforms this weekend; epoxy injections and carbon-fiber wrapping work coming up

information from Seattle Department of Transportation

We finished assembling the east span work platforms that will be hoisted into place this weekend. We’ll begin the lift on Saturday morning, January 29, using industrial winches – a mechanical device for pulling in or winding out a wire cable – positioned on the bridge deck. Friendly reminder that the platforms are hoisted 120 feet above the ground!

Winches are used to hoist the work platforms with the cable running through an opening on the bridge deck that we cut last month.
